THE Seymour Racing Club (SRC) has completed its ‘Asphalt to Oasis’ project, transforming
key public-facing areas of the Club through support from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund (VRIF).

The completed project has revitalised patron areas by replacing ageing asphalt and dated
infrastructure with modern landscaping, upgraded amenities and improved pedestrian
access.

Works included the removal of approximately 850 square metres of bitumen, replaced with
lawns, garden beds, trees, decorative pathways and fencing to create a more welcoming
park-like environment for racegoers and visitors.

Additional upgrades included extended walkways to both grandstands, a newly landscaped
central roundabout feature, replacement picnic furniture, flooring upgrades surrounding the Winning Post Bar and the installation of more than 100 metres of new Colorbond fencing.

The total project cost was approximately $65,000, with the Victorian Racing Industry Fund
contributing $32,500 toward the redevelopment.

SRC CEO Chris Martin said the project was another important step forward for the club and thanked all stakeholders involved in supporting the upgrade.

“The Victorian Racing Industry Fund continues to play a vital role in helping country racing
clubs improve their facilities and deliver better experiences for patrons and participants,” he said.

“We sincerely thank the Victorian Government and Racing Minister Anthony Carbines for
their continued support of country racing and for backing this important project at Seymour Racing Club.

“The completed redevelopment has significantly improved the presentation, comfort and
usability of our public spaces while creating a more welcoming environment for racegoers,
families and visitors.

“This project aligns with our broader vision of continuously improving the Club’s facilities and ensuring Seymour remains one of Victoria’s premier country racing destinations.

“We’re grateful for the support of all industry stakeholders involved in bringing this project to fruition and look forward to patrons enjoying the transformed spaces for many years to
come.”
