A WET and rainy day in Broadford summed up its 221-point loss in the Bendigo Football Netball League senior football as it continues its rough start in the league.
The Kangaroos took on Gisborne Bulldogs in their round seven clash at home but suffered a 35-goal whacking on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
The visitors came out to kick 12 goals in the first quarter, keeping Broadford scoreless.
Former Nalder Medallist – best on ground in the grand final – Braidon Blake returned for Gisborne from a calf injury and was strong throughout the game.
He looked steady setting up goals in the first quarter and kicking two himself throughout the game.
But it was all about Pat McKenna who finished the day with 12 goals which moves him to first in the league goalkicking by four goals.
Broadford managed to kick one goal in the second quarter, which came from vice-captain Jay Eager, but once again conceded seven goals in the second quarter.
The Kangaroos couldn’t manage to score for the remainder of the game, conceding another 16 goals in the second half.
Jay Eager, Charles Neilson, Isaac Smithwick, Taiten Thomas, Sebastian Morris and Riley Middleton all featured in the best for Broadford.

In the end, Gisborne finished with 53 scoring shots and proved why it is a force to be reckoned with in the Bendigo Football League.
They sit second, a win behind league leaders South Bendigo and Broadford continue to sit last with no wins and just 12 per cent.
It was a special day for the Broadford netballers though, who were keen on celebrating its new club life member and 200-gamer Jaimie Hooper.
Hooper has had a huge role to play at Broadford as a current coach, B-grade player, treasurer and social events and fundraising coordinator.
Broadford FNC took to their socials to say “Jaimie’s impact across our netball program has been enormous.”
She has been a part of multiple premierships for the club both playing and coaching within the last four years and gives contribution unlike many others.
The mother of three has battled an ACL injury whilst still giving as much as possible for the Broadford Football Netball Club.
She played in the B-grade side who ended up losing their match.
The A-grade netballers also lost in a 13-89 thrashing against a really solid outfit and a potential premiership chance.
The Bulldogs ran away with nine wins from nine fixtures against Broadford.
