THE Mitchell Shire Council is offering local service providers and community organisations to submit an Expression of Interest to earn grants to help fund Harmony Week events in March.
Held from March 20 to March 26, Harmony Week is crucial in celebrating Australia’s cultural diversity, bringing a wide range of people from different cultures together.
To capitalise on these events, the Mitchell Shire Council want to help support proposed events with three grants of up to $1000 offered.
The funding will be provided for one-off Harmony Week activities which will be open and accessible to the community, who support Harmony Week values and aligns with Council Plan priorities.
Applicants must have a strong connection to and a desire to deliver the event in Mitchell Shire, while applicants must also be a registered incorporated association or a not-for-profit organisation prepared to offer a free or low-cost event.
Eligible activities include cultural food or shared meals, performances, arts or storytelling, inclusive sport or recreation or talks, discussions or film screenings.
Applications have been open since January 30, but must close soon, with the closure of applications on February 20.
