THE main buildings for Beveridge’s new kindergarten have been installed recently, keeping the project on track to open its doors in January 2027.
The modular sections were constructed off-site before being transported to and installed at the Fethard Road site.
Works to finish the internal fit-out and develop the outdoor play areas are still continuing.
The kindergarten was announced earlier this year by State Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn and will cater for up to 99 children at a time across three rooms.
There will also be two maternal and child health rooms supporting families with children from birth to school age.
Upon the announcement of the project, the Mitchell Shire Council said the Beveridge Kindergarten will give local families access to more early learning places close to home.
Beveridge is expected to be by far the fastest growing suburb in the shire over the next couple of decades, with estimates showing a forecasted population jump from just under 12,000 in 2025 to 112,000 in 2046.
The new early learning facility is being delivered by the State Government but will be operated by an external kindergarten provider that will be appointed by the Mitchell Shire Council in the coming months.
It is one of five projects supported by the State Government in the shire that aims to create up to 779 kindergarten places.
Other projects include the Bald Hill Community Centre, Greater Beveridge Community Centre and the Wallan East Integrated Family and Children’s Centre.
