MITCHELL Majors’ quest to earn a finals berth in the A3 grade of the Melbourne Winter Baseball League took a blow with a close loss to Melbourne Uni away from home, 7-6.
Despite being the league’s highest-scoring club, the tough loss leaves Majors sitting in sixth, behind Melbourne Uni and Heathmont as the race for finals spots heats up.
Majors will have a chance to bounce back this week as it hosts bottom team Watsonia at Broadford this Saturday at 2.40pm.
Similarly, in A4 grade, Mitchell Majors were competitive, but just fell short against Melbourne Uni, losing 9-4.
Majors continued what’s been a recent good run of form by being competitive against the third-placed team, but couldn’t quite find enough to overhaul Melbourne Uni.
Majors will have a chance to record a third win in four games in the grade as it hosts eighth-placed Watsonia at 12.15pm.
