FANTASTIC scenes in Broadford took place on the weekend as the Mitchell Rangers Soccer team secured their second win of the season.
It was a tight and fierce first half which saw multiple substitutions and yellow cards early from the opposition but remained scoreless throughout.
In the second half, it was a quiet opening ten minutes until Cameron Leffley secured the Rangers first goal to lead the game.
The drama continued as the ETA Buffalo Club secured its third yellow card of the day not long after.
In the 68th minute William Mulvey scored the Rangers second and shortly secured the third as well.
The Rangers held on to see out a 3-0 win, securing a huge win for the club at home.
The win moves them into tenth spot, above La Trobe University and Footscray, and are not too far behind the pace.
The women’s team fell agonisingly short of a point, going down to Diamond Valley 0-1 in a rather positive loss compared to some other games so far.
Everyone is now looking forward to a jam-packed All Abilities Gala Day set to take place on this Saturday at their home ground in Broadford.
The day is set to have ‘come and try sessions’ alongside 10 teams playing games throughout, a barbeque and it’s for anyone in the community to pop down and see what it is all about.
Come try sessions start at 9-10:30am and then multiple games and teams will feature, before the main event which includes the Mitchell Rangers vs Wangaratta at 2pm.
