THE ongoing expansion of Kilmore is set to be boosted, with the construction of a four-kilometre pipeline slated to begin later this month.
Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) announced the major infrastructure project last Friday, with the company saying it will be capable of servicing thousands of new homes in the southern area of the town.
GVW General Manager Planning and Assets Regan Flanagan said the project would involve significant collaboration with the Mitchell Shire Council throughout the pipeline’s construction.
“Much of the work will not impact residents, but there are some high traffic areas where we will work with the shire and the contractor (Califam Constructions) to ensure the community is informed of any potential interruptions to their everyday activities,” Mrs Flanagan said.
“This project will be a ‘game-changer’ for Kilmore. It enables future development by providing essential wastewater services, while also protecting the reliability of services to existing customers.”
The new pipeline, stretching from a new estate in southern Kilmore to the northern entry of the town, will initially follow a route adjacent to Kilmore Creek.
Construction will commence between Lumsden and Graves Streets in Kilmore and follow an eastern alignment alongside Kilmore Creek before moving to the north and connecting to GVW’s existing wastewater infrastructure.
More information on this project is available on Goulburn Valley Water’s – Water Matters site.
