Tough day out for Rangers

THERE was little success on the pitch for the Mitchell Rangers Soccer Club when its two senior men’s sides travelled to Princes Park to take on FC Birrarung on Saturday.

Coming up against a strong Birrarung side in the seniors, who entered the game undefeated for the year, the Rangers would have been buoyed going into halftime with the scores still locked at nil-all.

But four goals in 15 minutes, including a hattrick to Birrarung’s Okeoghenedete Ukoko, put the game out of reach, relegating the Rangers to a 0-3 start to their campaign.

News was no better for the Reserves side who fell 7-0 to the Birrarung Reserves earlier in the day. The two sides will return home to Broadford Secondary College for next week’s clashes against Gisborne SC on Saturday.
