SEYMOUR may not be playing finals in the Goulburn Valley Football League senior competition this season, but it did fire a warning shot towards 2026 as the Lions dismantled Shepparton at Kings Park on Saturday.
The Lions took control early in the contest, kicking four goals to two in the opening quarter to take an eight-point lead, 25-17, before kicking away in the second quarter to extend the lead to 24 points by the main break, 45-21.
The Lions kept the Bears at arms’ length throughout the entirety of the second half, kicking seven goals to six to eventually record a 14.7 (91) to 8.13 (61) triumph.
Riley Mason continued his spectacular form in front of goal, adding five more majors to finish with 27 goals from just five games, while Jack Peris was best on ground. James Wooster, Mason, Nathan Beattie and Dylan Cook completed the best players for the Lions.
While the seniors are finished for the season, the reserves will play finals, finishing fourth.
