MITCHELL Shire Council has reported that during June close to 130 potholes were repaired across the shire but admits that are still more to fix.
Council has also advised that it does not manage all roads in the Shire and says for a better understanding of who is responsible for which roads an interactive tool has been posted on Council’s website.
Members of the community have also been vocal on the condition of many roads within the shire, with particular reference to potholes with many taking to social media to vent their concerns.
Kilmore’s Sydney Street has come in for particular mention with one local posting: “So nothing for Kilmore’s Main Street that’s worse than most dirt roads?”
Other areas of community concerns are potholes on Willowmavin Road and Northern Highway intersection that have been filled with crushed rock on two occasions. Sugarloaf Creek Road also comes in for a mention due to the crumbling road edges.
The Seymour Pyalong Road was described by one road user as a “complete danger’ adding that lowering the speed limit does not change the condition of the road.
Council has reported that road pavement evaluation is continuing with the road surface on multiple roads being evaluated to determine what repairs are needed.
“Identified issues will be scheduled for repair. Among roads being evaluated are Station Street, Windham Street and Duke Street in Wallan and Lancefield-Pyalong Road in Pyalong,” a Council spokesperson said.
