MARCH is the Petstock Foundation’s National Pet Adoption Month.
Petstock stores locally and across the state will once again host its annual National Pet Adoption Month—an initiative led by charity organisation Petstock Foundation— to help change the lives of rescue pets in need of a permanent or temporary home.
Sadly, 100,000 healthy pets are killed in Australia each year, most without having the chance to find a home. The organisation’s initiative hopes to reduce this number by encouraging locals to adopt, not shop, and with pet ownership offering a wealth of mental and physical benefits, it’s never been a better time to find your furry friend.
The benefits are so widespread that a recent survey has highlighted exactly how vital human-animal bonds are to wellbeing, with 97 per cent of Australians agreeing that pets positively impact their lives, and 95 per cent noting that pets improve their mental health.
With so many pets looking for a home, the Petstock Foundation, along with its charity partners this March, are encouraging Australians to consider not just cats and dogs, but the hundreds of rabbits, horses, birds, guinea pigs, and ferrets available for adoption.
Interested pet owners are encouraged to visit their local Petstock store, engage with their local rescue group, and visit www.petstock.com.au to learn more about the pet adoption process.
