THE Sporting Club Grants Program is now accepting applications for 2025, with The Nationals’ Member for Euroa, Annabelle Cleeland, urging all local clubs to apply for this much-needed funding.
This year, a significant portion of the funding will focus on supporting the volunteers and officials who are essential to the success of community sport.
Grants of up to $5000 are available for projects that enhance the skills and knowledge of volunteers, coaches, and officials, as well as initiatives aimed at improving volunteer retention.
Additional funding opportunities include:
· Up to $4000 to support clubs in delivering new programs to the community
· Up to $1000 for uniforms and equipment
· $750 travel grants to assist clubs in attending competitions away from home.
“Volunteers are the backbone of community sport across our region,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Without them, many clubs would not be able to function.
“With increasingly busy lifestyles, retaining volunteers is more critical than ever.
Ms Cleeland says it is a great way to keep interest levels high in sport.
“I encourage local clubs to put forward initiatives that support their dedicated volunteers and help keep them engaged in the sport,” she said.
“Clubs can also apply for funding to cover travel and uniform costs, which can add up significantly, particularly for clubs in regional areas.”
Previous recipients of these grants include the Seymour Scout Group, Benalla Bowls Club, Euroa Cricket Club, and Little Athletics Nagambie, all of whom successfully used the funding for uniforms and equipment.
Longwood Football Netball Club, Benalla Bushrangers Cricket Club, and Nagambie Football Netball Club also received funding for volunteer programs.
Applications close on March 27.
