If the cost of living has pushed your holiday plans to spend time and money in a luxurious hotel or paid camping reserve to the back burner, you might be pleased to know that this summer, all Victorian national parks and state forests will be free to camp in.
From December 1, 2024 until June 30, 2025, all of the state’s 131 Parks Victoria paid camping grounds will have their prices suspended, with free entry provided to even the ever-popular Tidal River in Wilson’s Promontory, where fees are currently $40.70 a night.
It is estimated that the fee elimination will save families a collective $7.3 million in booking fees.
The State Government will bear the cost of the free entry however, and are set to invest $9 million into the offer with $1.7 million to go towards additional maintenance, repairs, and operating costs to ensure campgrounds are kept clean and safe for all to enjoy.
Families who have already booked and paid to go camping during the promotional period will be refunded.
