Laurimar is celebrating after back-to-back wins at the weekend, taking care of Northcote Park in a spectacular 10.9 (69) to 6.8 (44) victory.

To add to the thrill of the win, this was the first time in the Power’s history that such a result has been achieved.

Things did not look good at the start with Northcote Park dominating the first half with an impressive five-goal haul. But the Power stopped that run at the 12-minute mark in the second term, pouring on six goals before the main break.

The win boosts Laurimar’s hope of remaining in Division 2 for season 2025, but the remaining games in the home and away season will be the ultimate determinator.

Laurimar had no trouble finding goals in the third quarter, despite the weather adding to the challenge.

The final quarter saw a highly contested game, and this was reflected on the scoreboard with only one goal scored by Aidan Clarke right on the siren.

Best for Laurimar were Aidan Clarke, Kaiden Arthur, Cooper Herbert, Joel Lawson, Jacob Lawson, and Campbell Walker.

Wet win for Eagles

The Eagles maintained their unbroken record with a convincing win over Panton Hill at the weekend.

Whittlesea travelled down to the AE Cracknell Reserve to take on seventh placed Panton Hill on a cold and wet Saturday.

The competition was tight as the game opened with contest for the ball fierce with Panton Hill claiming the first major. It took the Eagles until the 16-minute mark in the first term to put a major on the board.

The second term was not much different with both sides trading goals, finishing the first half with two majors each.

The third quarter saw a close contest with the Eagles dominating the scoreboard with two goals to Panton Hill’s one. It was clear that the weather was playing a big part in the contest, limiting scoring opportunities.

It was all Eagles in the final term with Panton Hill losing sight of scoring opportunities after the six-minute mark, proving the Eagles with a solid finish and an 8.10 (58) to 5.5 (34) win.

Taidhg Bland headed the best on ground for the Eagles, adding to his chances in the Coach’s MVP Award. Sharing best on ground were Riley Carter, Liam Tyrrell, Jack Morley, Matthew Atta, and Deakin Tennant.

With three games to go until the season’s end, Whittlesea hosts third place South Morang at the Showgrounds next weekend, followed by Diamond Creek in Round 17, and Northcote Park in the final round.
