The Kilmore and District Pony Club is inviting interested riders, children, and families to their annual Combined Training event next month.

Held on Sunday, August 25, the event will see a number of riders participate in showjumping and dressage in front of accredited judges, competing in Grades 1 to 6 for Pony Club riders and Grades 1 to 5 for Open riders.

Committee member John Dougall said the day provided established and potential members a chance to experience a full day of equestrian competition in action.

“It’s a great way for riders to get exposure and learn in a competitive environment,” he said.

Held at the Kilmore Trackside, the event will also see attendees among the first to try out the recently upgraded facilities, which Mr Dougall noted had been a collaborative effort between the Kilmore and District Pony Club and the Kilmore Racing Club.

“We’re quite appreciative of the Kilmore Racing Club,” he said.

“They’ve been undergoing a major development … and we’ve been working with Chief Executive Ben Murphy and the track manager pretty closely.

“They’ve catered for a lot of our needs, and our Club will benefit from the overall improved facilities at the racecourse.”

Speaking to interested riders and their families, Mr Dougall encouraged all to attend.

“If you’ve got an interest in your kid’s riding, come down, have a look, and you never know – you might be able to get involved,” he said.

Entry is free for casual spectators, with food and drink available from the canteen.

The Club will also be holding a reverse raffle on the day, with both equine and non-equine themed prizes available immediately upon purchase of winning tickets.

Entries for the Combined Training Day close Monday, August 12. To enrol, visit www.eventsecretary.com.au/equestrian.
