Almost half of this year’s Youth Fest events will take place in regional and rural locations, including Mitchell Shire, Macedon Ranges, and Whittlesea municipalities.
The Youth Fest will be held in September, with the State Government supporting young people across regional Victoria with grants for youth-led events and activities on offer.
Minister for Youth Natalie Suleyman announced last week close to $220,000 in grants for 110 recipients to host events and activities led by and for young people across the state as part of Youth Fest 2024.
Successful recipients include schools and local government and community organisations, who will each receive a grant of up to $2000 to create exciting and interactive events for young people.
Mitchell Shire Council will use its grant for the Kilmore Skate Comp. Meanwhile, neighbour Macedon Shire Council will make use of the grant for their own Youth Fest.
Across in the City of Whittlesea, Al Siraat College in Epping received a grant for Girls Night Out 2024. Whittlesea Community Connections also received a grant, and will allocate their grant for its Youth Voice Awards.
Ms Suleyman said the grants would provide opportunities for young people in the regions.
“We are committed to supporting our state’s young people, including in regional and rural Victoria,” she said.
“With these grants, we’re providing opportunities for young Victorians in our regions to showcase their unique ideas, talents, and skills through youth-led events and activities.”
