Goulburn Region Tourism, GRT, is calling on individuals who have an interest or involvement in the tourism industry to join its board.

Goulburn Region Tourism Inc. is the new Visitor Economy Partnership (VEP) representing the visitor economy of Mitchell Shire, Greater Shepparton and Strathbogie Shire councils that will be launching its operation in mid-2024.

As the establishment of GRT progresses, the entity is now actively seeking expressions of interest for the pivotal roles including industry board members.

GRT is inviting expression of interest for up to six industry board member positions. The board will be responsible for setting the organisation’s goals and monitoring achievements. Individuals who have an interest or involvement in the tourism industry and can serve as advocates for the region’s visitor economy can apply.

Applications for the board member positions close at 11am on Monday March 25.

VEPs are the result of the Regional Tourism Review and Visitor Economy Recovery and Reform Plan, which provides actions to address challenges and opportunities within regional tourism in Victoria.

Mitchell Shire Mayor, Cr Louise Bannister, said that Goulburn Region Tourism is a significant step for the region’s tourism sector to have equitable access to regional support.

“I encourage Mitchell businesses and community members with an interest and passion in the future of tourism in our region to get involved and help shape this important next step for our visitor economy,” Cr Bannister said.
