BOTH Mitchell Rangers soccer teams have taken narrow defeats in their respective matches on the weekend.

The Men’s team had the short trip out to Gisborne, to play the ninth-placed team.

It was a scoreless first half which built anticipation for the remainder of the game, before a breakthrough finally came in the 56th minute thanks to Jake Mcintyre for Gisborne.

The home team were good enough to hold on for the remainder of the clash, winning 1-0.

The women’s team played at home against Sunbury United, who sit two spots higher on the ladder then the Rangers.

It was a jam-packed opening 20 minutes thanks to Alannah Obeid who scored a double in the 7th and 17th minute of the game to put Sunbury up.

From that point onwards it was inaccurate shooting and great defensive play from both sides, leaving the score at 0-2.
