TWO vastly different results for Laurimar and Whittlesea headlined the Northern Football Netball League’s division three women’s competition across the weekend.

Laurimar ventured to Eltham to play a second Friday night game for the season against the Panthers, but it was all Eltham as Laurimar fell to an 83-point loss without scoring.

Eltham had a good start to the game, but the Power kept the Panthers honest in the first term, restricting them to two goals for the first quarter as the Panthers led 15-0 at the first change.

However, the weight of numbers started to show for the Panthers as they gradually kicked clear.

Four goals in the second quarter meant Eltham started to open up a bigger lead, with the score sitting at 43-0 at the main break.

Eltham peppered the goals in the third term, but could only manage two more goals from five shots, as the score sat at 58-0 at the final change.

The Panthers got their kicking boots on in the final term, kicking four goals to eventually win 12.11 (83) to 0.0 (0).

Ella Hoffman fought hard for the Power against the tide, while Savannah Brand, Madelin Paisley, Leah Bickerton, Keira Widgery and Lara Hecker were also named in the best.

Meantime, Whittlesea are back on track, defeating Epping by 62 points to maintain its hold on top spot on the division three ladder.

It was a slow burn for the Eagles throughout the day as they took until the third quarter to kick away from Epping.

Olivia Hodgson and Audrey Steinke kicked goals in each of the first two quarters to ensure the Eagles led 19-0 at the main break.

From there, the Eagles erupted in the third quarter. Goals to Tayla Wood and Tahlia Brander meant Whittlesea burst clear, and further goals to Shae Ashworth and Olivia Thomson meant the lead was suddenly 44 points at the last change, 44-0.

Simone Daniels, Indiana Robinson and Jasmyn Lang added goals in the last quarter to ensure it was a successful day for the Eagles, winning 62-0.

Hodgson, Steinke, Ashley Fitzpatrick, Hayley Osborne, Zoe Kendall and Wood were all named in the best for the Eagles, who now get to enjoy a bye.

Laurimar, in the meantime, will host Darebin 2 as it seeks a third win of the season.
