A JOINT Federal and State Government announcement sees Woodstock benefit from a new early childhood education and care centre to come in early 2028.
Families and children in Melbourne’s growing northern suburbs will soon benefit from locally available early childhood education and care closer to home with a new integrated children’s centre delivered in partnership between the Federal and State Governments.
The new centre will provide quality not-for-profit early learning in one of Melbourne’s fastest growing communities and help meet growing demand for early learning and care in Melbourne’s northern growth corridor.
The centre will accommodate up to 130 children at a time, providing long day care services, including 3-and 4-year-old kindergarten, a consulting room for child and family services, a multipurpose room for community meetings and playgroups and on-site parking.
Federal Member for McEwen, Rob Mitchell, said it was a huge commitment for the growing town.
“Families across Woodstock and across Melbourne’s growing north deserve access to quality early childhood education and care close to home,” he said.
“As our community continues to grow, it’s important that the infrastructure and services families rely on grow with them.
“This $16.3 million investment will make a real difference for local families, providing more opportunities for children to learn, play and develop, while helping parents balance work and family commitments.
“Early childhood education is about giving every child the best possible start in life, regardless of their backgrounds or where they live.
“By bringing kindergarten, long day care and family support services together in one location, we are creating a space that will support children and families throughout these important years.”
