MACEDON Ranges Shire Council has reaffirmed its position on the proposed Clarkefield Township Development following a recent election commitment regarding the future planning arrangements for the project.
Mayor Councillor Cassy Borthwick said Council’s position on Amendment C164 remained unchanged, with any decision needing to be based on a transparent, robust and evidence-based planning process.
Council has continued to call for an independent assessment of the proposal, saying further assessment, independent review and greater clarity are needed before any decision is made.
Council said it would continue working with the government of the day and engaging with election candidates to advocate for a rigorous planning process that considers concerns raised by Council and the community.
