GOULBURN Valley Water (GVW) has announced a new managing director, with Danielle Roche taking on the role.
Board Chair, Mark Stone AM, said the appointment followed an extensive recruitment process.
“Danielle brings more than 20 years’ experience across the water and energy sectors, most recently as General Manager Digital Business Enablement at AusNet Services. Her career also includes senior leadership roles at Queensland Urban Utilities, Veolia Water Technologies and City West Water, where she led large, multi-disciplinary teams responsible for critical water, wastewater and energy infrastructure”, Mr Stone said.
Danielle’s experience spans asset management, infrastructure planning, engineering, digital transformation, commercial partnership management and safety. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) with Honours and a Master of Water Resources Management (both from Deakin University) and completed the Purposeful Leader program at Harvard Business School in 2023.
“Danielle’s deep experience in asset-intensive, regulated utility environments, combined with her track record in digital transformation, commercial management and building high-performing teams, were particular strengths identified by the Board”, said Mr Stone.
“It is a pivotal time for GVW, as we enter a period of growth and investment to deliver on Strategy 2035 and prepare our Price Plan 2028 submission. Danielle’s demonstrated ability to lead major transformation programs and her authentic, people-centred approach to leadership will be critical during this time”.
“We look forward to welcoming Danielle to GVW and to the Goulburn Valley region.”
Danielle said she is looking forward to joining GVW and the region.
“I’m so excited to be joining GVW and becoming part of the Goulburn Valley community. I can’t wait to meet the team, get out across the region, and really get to know the people and communities we serve, and what matters most to them. I’m looking forward to understanding where we can make a difference and discovering what we can achieve together”.
Danielle will commence with GVW on Wednesday, September 9. Her appointment follows the departure of Dr Stephen Capewell, who served as GVW’s Managing Director from September 2020 to July 2026.
