A SERVICE that serves people and working for the community is winning good reviews on social media, with NDIS participants also among the recipients of fresh food which provides a service for the Mitchell Shire’s food offerings.
Cheféhome, launched by Broadford locals Jie and Owen, has been designed to help people with various problems in the kitchen – whether it be people struggling to cook, health issues or busy households preventing proper cooking.
Jie said the duo aimed to provide variety for locals who needed help.
“My intention is to provide some variety in this area,” she said.
“We love food, and we always cook different kinds of food. We see people growing, but not the variety, so we were thinking we could do something to make people try different cuisines.
“When we launched, we realised the people reaching out to us were NDIS participants, aged care and even mothers who just had babies, so they are the people looking for solutions and help, so these were the services, meal prep and delivery that solved them.”
Owen said there were opportunities to put together some food for those struggling in the area from his experience at Lancemore as an accomplished head chef, where he previously ascended to after starting as a casual chef.
“I missed being a local in Broadford, so I came back and landed at Lancemore in the Macedon Ranges, where I’ve been for eight years, from a casual chef, working up to head chef.
“There’s not a lot of food options around this area, and we’re very passionate cooks and wanted to bring restaurant quality food to the area that people might not have tried before, and we decided to start doing some meal prep.
“From travelling around the world, there are a lot of cuisines I’ve experienced that people might never have tasted. I wanted to bring those meals to people around here.”
The idea has received good feedback across the Mitchell Shire community pages, with many praising the duo for helping those in need with fresh food options.
A new menu comes out every month, with a weekly order delivered on Sundays across the Mitchell Shire, with deliveries in Broadford, Kilmore, Wallan, Tallarook, Seymour, Beveridge, Wandong and Romsey. The core zone of Broadford and Kilmore has free delivery, while there are also options to deliver to other areas for a small price.
