LOCAL businesses and community groups across the Macedon Ranges are invited to dress up their shop fronts and windows in celebration of Pride Month. The annual rainbow windows competition is being organised by Omnia Community Health in partnership with Macedon Ranges Shire Council.

Omnia Community Health’s Rhani Dean-Talbett explained that the rainbow windows competition is a way that local organisations can come together and visibly show their support for the LGBTIQA+ community.

“Pride is built on people standing up and being seen, so we invite people to get creative, have some fun, and put on an eye-catching display that celebrates inclusion,” she said.

Registrations are being taken up until Sunday, June 14, and the first 20 registrations will receive a free pride pack with resources to help with their display. Windows can be decorated with pride colours, flags, symbols, and messages and there will be prizes up for grabs for the most creative entries with winners being announced at the end of June.

Also as part of Pride Month, local business and community members are invited to take part in a free online rainbow inclusion training session. Taking place next Wednesday, June 10, between 3pm and 4.30pm, the interactive training will build the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to create safe, inclusive, and affirming environments for LGBTIQA+ people. Omnia Community Health also holds a monthly rainbow coffee club for LGBTIQA+ adults in Romsey, Sunbury and Kyneton and this month anyone attending will receive a free coffee and cake. Contact Omnia Community Health on 5421 1666 or email pride@omniach.org.au for more information.
