A KEY item considered and endorsed at the April 2025 meeting  of the Macedon Ranges Shire Council included consulting on the Draft Budget for 2025-26.

Feedback is invited on the draft budget that was informed by earlier community feedback over a two-week period.

Council believes that the consultation is a valuable opportunity for the community to provide feedback on key proposals and initiatives within the budget, which will be considered alongside any submissions received at the June 2025 Council Meeting.

Mayor Dom Bonanno said that Council is proposing a balanced budget that sees an increased focus on back to basics.

“I encourage everyone to have a look at what we’re proposing in this concise version of the Draft Budget 2025-26 and tell us what you think,” He said.

Council will sign the North Central Goldfields Regional Library Service and Funding Agreement 2025-2027, which outlines library service delivery and funding arrangements over the next two years.

Within the next two years, the current Regional Library Corporation is expected to transition to a new operating model, to comply with the Local Government Act 2020.

Residents will continue to benefit from shared library services delivered in collaboration with neighbouring councils.

Council also endorsed a new Councillor Internal Resolution Procedure, introducing a process for managing interpersonal disputes and addressing any breaches of the Councillor Code of Conduct.

This aligns with the requirements of the Local Government (Governance and Integrity) Regulations 2020.

To support Councillors and others to attend the 2025 National General Assembly of Local Government, the June Scheduled Council Meeting will now be held one week earlier, on Wednesday June 18 at 7pm.

Council noted the awarding of several project contracts under officer delegation including renewal works to Kerrie Hall, works to Gisborne Mechanics and Community Hall, and the removal of the Lauriston Footbridge to support public safety.

In considering a range of criteria, Council resolved not to include unmaintained sections of Blackhill Road in Kyneton and Mt William Road in Goldie on the Public Road Register. Affected residents and stakeholders will be notified directly of this decision.

Council awarded a $1,440 Small Project Grant to the Upper Deep Creek Landcare Network to support their Equine Landcare: Healthy Land, Healthy Horse project, promoting sustainable land management practices within the region.

Following a review of speed limit concerns and technical assessments, Council has resolved to seek approval from the Department of Transport and Planning to formalise an 80km/h speed limit on Spencer Road in Woodend.
