Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell is calling on community groups and not-for-profit volunteer organisations to lodge an expression of interest in the Federal Government’s 2024-2025 Volunteer Grants program.

With volunteers the heart of local communities, Mr Birrell stated that the grants of up to $5000 would greatly assist in their continuing support.

“Whether it’s cooking the BBQ, coaching the local sporting team, helping provide goods for the less fortunate or running amazing community events, volunteers help ensure our region thrives,” he said.

“While these grants are small, they will help support the selfless work of volunteers.”

The 2024-2025 grants can be used to purchase communication or insurance items, and/or purchase items or services to assist volunteers or volunteer-run activities that support the wellbeing and development of children.

Expressions of interest close on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with successful organisations selected and notified by February to continue their application.
