Last week at St Patrick’s Primary School, the Parents and Friends Committee coordinated an exciting day of fundraising activities for students.
A joyous visit from Santa and an afternoon ice bucket challenge were some of the activities which made the event so memorable.
The school choir, drumming groups, and for the first time ever, Year 6 rock band performed for the entire school, raising the stadium roof when they sang their version of Queen’s classic We will rock you. A school disco followed, and in between, the students shopped for buttery popcorn, face painting, raffle tickets, and Christmas themed temporary tattoos at several market stalls set up on the school grounds.
To the children’s delight, Santa magically appeared to sing several Christmas favourites, including Jingle bells, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, and Santa Claus is coming to town.
Afterwards, a friendly indoor netball match between the teachers and students was held, with the former claiming bragging rights by a whisker.
Parents and Friends Committee member Natasha Biddick said the money raised would help fund future activities and a school they supported in East Timor.
“The funds raised on the day will allow the Parents and Friends Committee to continue to run free activities and events for the forthcoming school year,” she said.
