Upper Plenty Primary School Year 5 and 6 students recently tapped into their creative minds by making three-dimensional gnomes.

Following a Europe trip of their art teacher Andrea Lewis late last year, the students have been working on three dimensional artworks during their construction and modelling unit, making sculptures inspired by countries, but more specifically, the Wroclaw Gnomes in Poland.

Before creating the three-dimensional sculptures, students also chose a country from the Olympic Games and researched about the landmark.

Embracing their gnome creations, students then participated in an exciting gnome hunt, inviting all year levels to search the school grounds for the gnomes they had cleverly hidden.

Ms Lewis said it was a great day to be part of, recognising the student’s brilliant work and creativity.

“We recently celebrated their work with a whole school gnome hunt around our grounds,” she said.

“It was a beautiful day where all students came together excitedly to locate the tiny figures hidden around the playground.”
