THE Kilmore Art Society is gearing up for a big arrival on October 3 at its Anvil Street headquarters, with renowned Melbourne-based artist Ben Winspear hosting a tutoring session on the art of still life painting.
Mr Winspear has been a celebrated painter for over 15 years, holding many exhibitions, particularly in Kilmore, where he has previously supported both the Kilmore Art Expo and the Kilmore Art Society.
Mr Winspear’s two major loves are portrait/figure paintings and the Australian landscape, while also passing on knowledge to younger painters.
The Kilmore Art Society’s Jeannette Jain said Mr Winspear’s arrival would help provide inspiration and flair to those who love to paint in Kilmore.
“We are having Ben Winspear tutoring us and the local community in an oil workshop,” she said.
“Ben is accomplished in all mediums, and he is a very well-accomplished and award-winning artist. He’s supported the Kilmore Art Expo and Kilmore Art Society for many years now and has done painting for us to many parts of Australia and overseas, specifically around Victoria in the river regions, north central Victoria, the Grampians and more recently the Flinders Region.
“Ben is particularly keen on oil painting, but he is a very accomplished watercolourist, pastel painter and he is keen to tutor drawing. He’s strong on having a good drawing to start off any painting.
“He particularly likes younger students to come and learn, so we welcome them to come and learn too.”
On the day, there will be several examples to try in practicing still life painting.
