Seymour local and Deputy State President of the Country Women’s Association of Victoria (CWA) Sarah Barnbrook has embarked on yet another mission with the release of Purpose & Passion, a book that focuses on the importance of heart-centred and purpose-driven leadership.
A Women Changing the World Press book, each of the 26 chapters is authored by a different woman from across Australia, with Ms Barnbrook’s chapter the 20th in the lineup.
Having recently returned from an international area conference, where on behalf of the CWA she presented two impressive resolution frameworks, both of which were carried unanimously—one on the topic of protecting children from graphic online content, and one on the use of AI and its public disclosure—Ms Barnbrook was excited to continue her positive influence on the world, but this time through sharing her own personal battles and triumphs.
“I was nominated last year for a national women’s award and …. [Women Changing the World Press] read [my application for the award] and were like, ‘Oh wow, we really think you should be part of this book, it has to do with overcoming things, and you’ve achieved so much with so much on your plate, we think you’d have a great perspective,’” she said.
“My chapter … looks at what can help you, and what helped me. [It’s about] showing yourself some grace in really difficult times.
“The title of my chapter is called Words without action are only noise, and so it’s about making sure that when you say you’re going to do something, you actually do it. Intention is not enough, you actually have to follow through.”
Ms Barnbrook’s next adventure will see her travel to Switzerland later this month for the United Nations (UN) conference.
“I’m very excited … going to where the Sustainable Development Goals were founded will help me to embed them into my practice as a leader, so it’s really exciting,” she said.
Purpose & Passion will soon be available on Amazon in digital, audio, and print formats. Hard copies are also available at Board Games and Battlegrounds in Seymour.
