Thomastown will shine bright on the last day of winter as the beloved Walking Thomastown event returns, giving an evening of lights, music, art, and community connection.

Walking Thomastown is presented by the City of Whittlesea and its facility Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre (TRAC), in collaboration with the Friends of Westgarthtown, Yarra Plenty Regional Libraries, and Thomastown Neighbourhood House.

This year’s theme is ‘Hope,’ chosen in consultation with the Thomastown community.

Taking place on August 31 from 6pm to 9pm, this free event will transform Thomastown into a glowing wonderland of lights, celebrating the end of winter in style.

The journey starts at dusk at Main Street Recreation Reserve and continues along Edgars Creek through the historic pioneer precinct at Westgarthtown to Ziebell’s Farmhouse Museum and Heritage Garden.

There is something for everyone to enjoy, including live music from local artists, cultural performances, and a creative lantern-making activity among the festivities.magic tab

“Walking Thomastown is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate our unique history, and look forward to the future with hope. We are thrilled to see this event grow each year and are excited to showcase Thomastown in such a vibrant light,” she said.

“We are expecting this year’s Walking Thomastown to be the most successful yet.”
