Ausnet has extended the deadline for their Energy Resilience Community Fund to June 30, 2024.

The fund was implemented following a catastrophic storm in February this year that damaged 12,000 km of powerlines and poles, and caused more than 500,000 Victorian homes and businesses to be without power.

The $10 million fund has since been increased to $12 million and aims to support local recovery efforts and provide energy resilient initiatives. It also provides support to individuals and small businesses who not eligible for other relief payments.

AusNet Chief Executive Officer David Smales said the grant had been effective in providing much needed relief to communities.

“The fund has already provided more than half a million dollars in hardship grants to over 1,000 residents and businesses most impacted by these storm events,” he said.

“We know many of our customers are struggling with cost-of-living pressures, so we’ve extended the timeframe to apply for financial hardship grants until June 30, 2024, to give households and businesses more time to apply.”
