Kilmore and District Probus Club celebrated its 30th anniversary with a large morning tea and cake cutting at Kilmore Trackside last month.
The anniversary marked a milestone for the club, which prioritises friendships and enjoyment for retired people.
The club meets at Kilmore Trackside for monthly meetings, and morning teas every Wednesday at various cafes.
President Margaret Jakymczuk, who has been in Probus for about seven years, said she was pleased to meet with past and current members to honour an achievement that was provided with a certificate from Probus South Pacific.
“We wanted to catch up with people, [see] what they’re doing and how they’re getting on and all that sort of thing,” she said.
“I feel very privileged and grateful that we’ve been able to keep going … at least for another year anyway.”
Ms Jakymczuk said friendship was the best part of the club, and was positive about finding more guest speakers for their monthly meetings, as well as attracting more members to continue the club.
“It was an achievement because I know some other clubs have folded because the numbers are really small and they’ve got nobody to carry on, but I also know that some larger clubs have folded too, because nobody wants to do it,” she said.
