Applications for an $80,000 Lendlease grant program are now open, providing funding to eligible community organisations.
The Local Green Champions grant program will provide groups with grants of up to $5000, in recognition of their sustainability programs, events, or initiatives that benefit their community with an environmentally friendly aspect in mind.
Lendlease is calling for applications that support the City of Whittlesea’s Aurora community, as well as other municipalities of its Victorian masterplanned communities in areas such as the cities of Wyndham, Melton, and Cardinia Shire.
A total of $20,000 is available to each municipal area.
Lendlease head of communities Victoria Anne Jolic said the grants would encourage community groups to continue to work towards sustainable living.
“Our Local Green Champions grant program is one of the many ways we are encouraging our community groups to share their ideas on sustainable living and help bring these to life across our Lendlease masterplanned communities,” she said.
“This funding is aimed specifically at empowering groups to deliver the type of projects that they know will help create a cleaner and greener greater Melbourne.”
Applicants must show how their ideas support their community on topics including waste reduction and recycling; growing and sharing food; Caring for Country and promoting healthy waterways; protecting local biodiversity; sustainable resource use; promoting sustainable transport; or sustainability education.
Previously, more than $114,000 worth of community grants were issued, with around $21,000 awarded to Victorian groups in the cities of Wyndham and Melton.
Applications close on July 15, with successful applicants to be announced August. To apply, visit cia.communityenterprisefoundation.com.au and select the relevant Lendlease project or call 1300 304 541.
