Transition Village Wallan, TVW, is now in the last stage of finalising plans to build its permanent village and is looking for committed volunteers to help once construction is completed.
Volunteers will be generally required to work one to three hours a week, however times are flexible, and everyone will be supported by chief executive Judy Clarke and other committee members.
Volunteers will also be required to attend one meeting per month with the committee of management.
Ms Clarke said a strong team of volunteers would help the village operate as intended.
“We’re looking for committee members who are committed and dedicated to helping out,” she said.
“Roles can be subdivided to help ease loads on any one person, and we can hopefully spread out the work as much as is needed.
“We’re just needing a lot more people who are committed and willing to push to just get it done and off the ground.”
The new Village is set to be built at the north end of North Station Road in Wallan East, with plans almost ready to be submitted to Mitchell Shire Council for first approval.
Once the plan is approved, the remainder of the planning process is expected to take another six months and the construction process is expected to take two months.
“It’s also a good time to refresh the committee, bring some new faces in and just generally expand,” Ms Clarke said.
“Of course a lot of people have other commitments so it’s always family first, then volunteering, but generally it’s exactly what we planned it to be.”
Available roles include secretary; building project team leader; social media manager; administration manager; and volunteer coordinator.
