Comedy for a Cause night at Transition Village Wallan

Popular Stories

TRANSITION Village Wallan, TVW, will next month host its third Comedy for a Cause night, bringing entertainment to the area and raising funds for the village.

The event has been cancelled three times in the past 12 months due to COVID-19 restrictions, however TVW has now found a window to invite people to an event following months of separation.

The community-managed group is raising money to develop an eco-friendly village for people who are or at risk of homelessness.

TVW chief executive Judy Clarke said the night was expected to be a good opportunity for both residents of the area and the village.

“We see this as a time to get together with family and friends again after COVID-19,” she said.

“We’re looking to once again be able to host local events that people will enjoy while also raising funds for the village, so it’s a win-win for everyone.”

The night will feature comedians from the Sydney and Melbourne international comedy festivals but for a more affordable entry fee. Clean humour will be a focus and families are welcome.

The night has proved popular in its previous two iterations, with the experience to be enhanced in 2022 by a raffle happening on the night. People are also encouraged to bring their own snacks and drinks.

“This event along with the other things we do are designed to support the village,” Ms Clarke said.

“We’ve kept running over the last few years and we’re still active and operating, and as always we’re looking for support so this night is a good opportunity for us.”

The night will be held at Kilmore Soldiers Memorial Hall on March 12, with doors opening at 7pm. COVIDSafe measures will be in effect.

Entry is $30 for adults and $25 for students. To make a booking, visit
