Kilmore’s Recycled/Upcycled Op Shop, RUOSP, is calling on businesses and the community for their support as it prepares for Easter.
The op shop, operated by Transition Village Wallan, TVW, accepts donations of a wide range of items, which are then resold for a cheaper price, with all profits going back into TVW to help support people experiencing homelessness.
The op shop is looking to prepare Easter hampers and is encouraging the community to contribute through donations.
Shop manager Lisa Walker said the hampers would support individuals and families who might otherwise struggle.
“We have a lot of people come in sometimes just to talk because they’re lonely, and there’s a lot of people [who] … could use a nice hamper at Easter but they may not be able to afford it,” she said.
“Whatever donations we get, whether they be gift vouchers, physical donations, whatever it is, we can pop into as many baskets as we can, and the tickets will be distributed free of charge to anyone who spends $10 or more in the shop.
“Hopefully we can put some smiles on some faces at Easter.”
Any person, business or community group can donate items for the hampers regardless of being Easter-related, including Coles vouchers and non-perishable food items.
Hamper recipients will be drawn the week prior to Easter.
People can visit the op shop at 6/84-86 Sydney Street, Kilmore to make a donation. For more information, visit the shop’s Facebook page or the TVW website at tvw.org.au.
