BOOKINGS are now open for Seymour Railway Heritage Centre’s, SRHC, special heritage train through Western Victoria to Murtoa and Beulah on May 21 and 22.
The weekend away will allowed guests to experience the hospitality of Wimmera residents and impressive silo art on a line that is normally only used for freight trains.
Leaving Seymour at about 6.30am on May 21, the train will arrive in Murtoa at lunchtime. Passengers can sightsee or join in Murtoa’s 150th celebrations, organised by the Murtoa Historical Society and Yarriambiack Shire Council.
Attractions in Murtoa include the heritage-listed Stick Shed, Water Tower Museum and old freezing works.
Coaches have been organised to transfer passengers to their nominated accommodation in Horsham late in the afternoon and will transfer the passengers back to the train after breakfast on Sunday.
On May 22, the train will run at a leisurely pace on the rarely used Hopetoun line via Warracknabeal to Beulah. Along the way, there will be opportunities to see the silo art at Sheep Hills and Brim.
People can enjoy lunch at the Creekside Hotel at Warracknabeal or at Beulah where the lunch is provided by the local CWA.
After returning to Murtoa, the train will continue and return passengers to Melbourne and Seymour.
