STANDIES for Breast Cancer Trials is holding a new and second-hand equine goods market day aimed at increasing its contributions towards the breast cancer trials program.
The breast cancer trials program is a group of world-leading breast cancer doctors and researchers based in Australia and New Zealand trying to find better treatments for people affected by breast cancer through clinical trials research.
Collaborating with major sponsor Kilmore Racing Club, Lesley McAliece and Maree Lund from Standies for Breast Cancer Trials have organised for the market day to be at the racing club on April 24.
Since September 2019, Ms McAliece and Ms Lund have combined their love for standardbred horses and passion to support those affected by breast cancer by hosting three horse shows for people who own, ride, and show standardbred and partbred standardbred horses.
The shows, as well as some raffles, have seen already $15,940 donated to the breast cancer trials program.
“Breast cancer is not limited to us females. Men also suffer from breast cancer, so our fundraising benefits both men and women,” Ms Lund said.
“Lesley is a breast cancer survivor herself and it was her idea of running the shows initially and raising funds for the Breast Cancer Trials Program. They gave her a life, so she’s returning what they were able to do for her.”
For those wanting to browse for a bargain, entry is free and there will be a sausage sizzle and drinks available.
A four-metre square undercover space costs $30, with double spaces available for $50, and sale items are not just limited to equine products.
For details on how to make a booking, contact Ms Lund via email, standiesforbct@gmail.com.au or call 0427 004 821.
