The Lancefield District Farmers’ Market celebrates 21 years on Saturday, March 23 with quality products, free face paint and live music.

Starting as a community project with 23 stalls in 2003, the market has grown to host 85 producers each month and market organisers are excited to celebrate 21 years with the community.

Market manager Meggs Hannes launched the market to offer a viable trading space for local producers and local people.

“We are seeing an encouraging uptake of small farming and food production across the region in this period of time,” Ms Hannes said.

“The support at the farmers market is also growing, something that is vital for the success of each individual farm or food enterprise.

“To see so many people choosing locally produced means that those dollars continue t get circulated through the local community, building on the opportunities for more small businesses to thrive and also to see family farming as a viable option for up-and-coming young farmers.”

The market is open from 9am to 1pm on High Street, Lancefield and includes a seated lunch area with lunch options and picnic rugs.

Attendees are invited to bring bags, baskets and trolley and dogs are welcome on a leash.
