A highlight of the Whittlesea Rodeo was hometown hero Morgan Woolacott, who lasted eight seconds in the bull riding event to win.
Woolacott was the only female in a field of 28 competitors.
The rodeo, on February 26, attracted a strong crowd, who were entertained by competitors and other entertainment on the night.
The rodeo, in its 50th year, proved to be popular, with tickets selling out and a large number of people turned away at the gate.
“I grew up in this lifestyle and I’ve always been around horses,” Woolacott said.
“I thought I’d give it a crack because it’s always been a dream of mine and I lasted eight seconds to win.
“It felt like a movie.”
Woolacott has taken part in every sport on offer in Whittlesea, from pony riding to AFL.
She said she hoped to show other young girls they could take part in male-dominated sports and succeed, and encouraged them to give it a go.
