KILMORE wrestler Mitch Waterman is preparing for the biggest match of his life this weekend.

The pair will challenge for the MCW World Heavyweight Championship.

Waterman has worked his way through the ranks of the Victorian wrestling scene after dreaming of being a wrestler since he was a child.

“As soon as I turned 16 and was able to train I started in a gym down in Sunshine, and even before that I was going down to local shows with my dad and watching and helping set up,” he said.

“I started having matches when I was 17 in smaller shows in paddocks in front of five people, and eventually I worked my way up and had a tryout with MCW.

“I was accepted and put into a tag team called the Brat Pack with a guy named Nick Berry. We were four-time tag-team champions and held the title the most times out of any team.

“At the start of last year I won the Ballroom Brawl, which gives you a shot at any championship of your choosing. That’s earned me a shot at the world championship against Adam Brooks.”

Waterman said people could expect an entertaining evening of world-class wrestling.

“You’ll see high flying, you’ll see flips, you’ll see technical wrestling, you’ll see hard hitting. There’s something for everyone,” he said.

“Kids love it, families love it. It’s the best wrestling in the country and honestly some of the best wrestling in the world.”
