Australia Day will be celebrated through various events in towns across the Macedon Ranges Shire.
Award recipients who have made outstanding contributions to the Macedon Ranges community will be recognised at council’s invitation-only Australia Day Award ceremony at Kyneton Town Hall on Wednesday.
Other township celebrations include an Australia Day breakfast at the Tylden barbecue area, from 8am, courtesy of Tylden Fire Brigade.
There will also be a film night at Baynton Hall, where people can enjoy a night under the stars, starting at 6pm with a barbecue, followed by the running of the Baynton Gift at 7.30pm and a banquet of Australian desserts, before watching an Australian movie in the hall.
The council will also provide free entry to the Lancefield and Woodend outdoor pools, with inflatable fun from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, and a range of family-friendly activities from 3pm to 4.30pm.
Hanging Rock will also host its annual race day, featuring the Hanging Rock Cup. People are invited to spread out a rug, have a picnic and enjoy a relaxed day out at the races, which includes free children’s activities and live music.
