Presenters of OKR FM Mitchell Community Radio’s Youth Zone show, Ben Rask and Matthew Whitfield, welcomed studio guest, musician Emma Pyle, into the studio on July 5.

The two 15-year-old presenters spoke to Pyle about her music career so far, which includes four years of singing professionally, releasing two original songs and recording another two originals.

Pyle said singing was something she had always loved and used as a way to cope with diffcult times.

The trio also discussed Pyle success in sport, particularly football, and umpiring.

Station committee member Mark Perrott said one of the best things about community radio was seeing young people’s talent flourish.

“[It’s great] seeing our local young people take the opportunity to try something different and a bit challenging,” he said.

“In many ways it allows them to demonstrate and advance other skills and talents that they hope to pursue.

“Ben and Matt won this year’s young presenters quest and have now been hosting their own one hour show at 4pm on Mondays for five months.”

Tune in to 98.3 on Monday afternoons from 4 to 5pm to catch Rask and Whitfield’s show.
