MITCHELL Shire officially has no active cases of COVID-19 following the outbreak in Kilmore earlier this month.

One new case was reported across the state today, bringing the state’s total number of active cases to 122 with just three in regional Victoria, all in Greater Shepparton.

Today’s new case is a previously reported case who tested positive in July which is under investigation and review.

The case is being reviewed by an expert panel of clinicians and epidemiologists to determine if this is a new infection or if the person is still shedding virus from their original infection.

There was also a case reported last night that is a Victorian resident quarantining interstate after returning from overseas which was not included in today’s figures.

Regional Victoria’s 14-day rolling average has decreased to 0.4 while metropolitan Melbourne’s also decreased to 6.4.

Just seven active cases are linked to the Chadstone Shopping Centre outbreak which accrued 39 total cases as it spread to Kilmore and Shepparton.

Whittlesea has just two active cases while the Macedon Ranges Shire is also free of COVID-19.
