POLICE found a cannabis crop with more than 70 plants in Wallan property during a drug bust on Thursday.
The unoccupied rental property was in William Street, Wallan.
Sergeant Bob Derrett, from the Mitchell Police Divisional Tasking Unit, said his team executed a search warrant and found the crop – some plants were in their early stages of development.
“We’ll pull the crop apart and the landlord has been made aware of what’s going on,” Sgt Derrett said.
“Historically we know money that comes from these operations goes straight overseas to fund other similar operations.
“We’ve made enquiries with the property owner and have identified persons of interest.”
No charges have been laid yet.
