GENEROUS grants have helped expand Kilmore Men’s Shed facilities with $28,000 put towards a disabled toilet block at the Hunts Road premises.

Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal donated $20,000 to the project while Bendigo Bank donated $8000.

“The grant gives the men another venue to attend to and we were able to add a female bathroom as well,” Kilmore Men’s Shed Member Ray Walsh said.

“Bendigo Bank has been really good to us by helping out – not only on expenditure but financial advice as well.

“Foundation of Rural and Regional Renewal have been excellent to us by giving us money for the new toilet block – left over funds from the 2009 bushfires.”

Member Ron Hamilton said the new facility would help some of their members who had walking aids.A new cement patio will be soon added around the toilet block.

“We had a local builder help us with the block, and because we’re all handy men ourselves we were able to chip in and help,” Mr Hamilton said.

Men’s Sheds are community-based, non-profit organisations that provide a safe and friendly environment where men are able to work on meaningful projects.

A major objective of the organisation is to assist with feelings of isolation and advance men’s mental health and well-being.
