Tallarook Cricket Club will represent the Seymour District Cricket Association on the regional stage this summer after earning selection for the 2026/27 Kookaburra Cup Regional Championship.
The club will take its place in the senior men’s T20 competition as the SDCA representative following its 2025/26 A Grade premiership.
Tallarook will face Upper Loddon Cricket Association representative Boort Cricket Club in the qualifying round, with the match to be played by Sunday, December 6.
The Kookaburra Cup brings together leading clubs from across the Northern Rivers region, with representatives from the Murray Valley, Bendigo, Goulburn Murray, Upper Loddon, Emu Valley, Seymour and Cricket Shepparton associations.
Tallarook Cricket Club President Mitch Itter said the opportunity was a fitting reward for the club’s premiership-winning season.
“We’re incredibly proud to have the opportunity to represent the Seymour District Cricket Association in the Kookaburra Cup,” Mr Itter said.
“Winning the A Grade premiership last season was a fantastic achievement for our players and everyone involved with the club, and this gives the group another opportunity to test itself against quality opposition from across the region.
“It’s also a great opportunity to represent not just Tallarook, but the broader Seymour District cricket community, and we’ll be determined to represent the association strongly.”
The qualifying round features four matches, with Cobram taking on Moama, Karramomus facing Strathdale Maristians, Tallarook playing Boort and BLU meeting United.
The four winners will progress to the Kookaburra Cup Finals on Sunday, January 24, 2027, with two semi-finals at 10.30am followed by the Grand Final at 2.30pm.
Mr Itter said the club was looking forward to the challenge.
“There are some very strong clubs involved, so we know it will be a high-quality competition.
“Our first focus will be Boort and hopefully we can earn our way through to Finals Day in January.
“It’s exciting for Tallarook and another great opportunity for our players following what was a memorable 2025/26 season.”
Details of the Tallarook v Boort qualifying match, including the date and venue, will be announced once confirmed.
