KILMORE came from behind to score a win in a crucial result for its double-chance ambitions, while Wallan are now out of the running in the Northern Football Netball League Women’s competition.

Sitting 16 points behind in the early stages of the second quarter against North Heidelberg at Seddon Reserve, it looked as though Kilmore’s grip on third position was slipping.

But the Blues stormed back into the game throughout the rest of the second quarter, kicking two much-needed goals to reduce the margin to two points at the main break, 16-18.

Kilmore hit the front for the first time all day with a goal 20 seconds into the third quarter, and it was a five-point game at the final change, 25-20.

The Blues continued to pepper the goals in the final term and added two more to eventually take away a 5.12 (42) to 3.3 (21) victory.

Nicole Bauce and Sienna Shinners were crucial in the comeback victory, while Shazi Cappello, Chiara Nardo, Jenaya Stewart and Zahra Kelly also provided plenty of spark for the Blues.

Wallan was no match for Eltham 2 at Eltham Central Park.

The Magpies did well to restrict the high-flying Panthers to a goal in the opening quarter, but five goals in the second quarter meant the game slipped away as the game went on, trailing by 38 points at half time.

The margin was extended to 53 points at the final change, before eventually, the game ended with Eltham scoring 11.6 (72) to nil.

Charlie Rice fought hard against the tide, while Jessica Hort, Nicole Evans, Melanie Hope, Shayla McAuliffe and Brittney Knight were also named in the best.

Wallan will look to bounce back against Darebin next week, while a split round sees Kilmore take a week off, before a clash against Ivanhoe on Saturday, July 11.
