FEDERAL Member for McEwen, Rob Mitchell is pleased to announce expressions of interest are now open for round 10 of the Stronger Communities Program.
With available grants of between $2500 and $20,000 the program provides funding to community organisations and local governments for infrastructure projects that deliver social benefits for local communities.
“There are so many amazing community groups in our community of McEwen. The Stronger Communities Program is a way of supporting their work through grants of between $2500 and $20,000,” Mr Mitchell said.
“From music stands to new laptops and website upgrades to infrastructure upgrades, projects funded under the Stronger Communities Program can provide a real benefit to local organisations. I invite local groups to check the guidelines and get to work on their applications.”
Through the previous nine rounds, over $200 million in funding has supported over 19,000 community–based projects across Australia.
The input of the community is a key element of the Program. Successful projects are nominated by their Member of Parliament and a local community consultation committee, before being independently assessed by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.
Previous successful projects in McEwen include $2760 for Whittlesea SES Unit’s emergency first aid kits, $4180 for Love In Action Wallan’s website upgrade, $4500 for Edgars Mission in Lancefield for upgrades to chicken huts, $20,000 towards the Hurstbridge Bowling Club’s clubroom renovations and $20,000 for Woodend Golf Club’s Old Quarry Rehabilitation Project.
Eligible projects may include building or upgrading community infrastructure, the purchase of equipment for community or sports groups and the purchase and installation of ICT equipment.
